Bob, I found a used factory limited slip on eBay for a couple hundred bucks for my 01 SD. Maybe I got lucky it was good, but slapped it in and it served me well.

I am with Lance, most likely a hydraulic blocked plugged at the rear valley. I had one that way that was plugged with longer plugs, but can’t recall the specific date.

I think you are off a year on your S scratch 428 block dates. They were supposedly built late 66 and into early 67 calendar year.

Charlie,
I ordered Dutchman 35 spline axles for my 63 a few years ago. They have a form to fill out best I remember. My notes show SR178 axles with 27.875” LH axle and 32.25” RH axle (stock dimensions). There are a few other options such as which studs and spline to meet your requirements.

Yes it will fit Bob. The 3.25” is the size of the side carrier bearings.
