sub frame connectors 1964 Fairlane
« on: January 27, 2020, 10:47:35 PM »
anyone made their own sub frame connectors for a 1964 Fairlane?  I have seen pics of Crites and think I want something more substantial.   Thanks

Not familiar with the underside of a 64, but I used 2x2 14 gauge tube with some 2x2 angle as needed at the ends to attach to the body/floor.

I'm not sure what a 64 looks like either but you can see mine for a 66 here if it helps.

I built my own for my 71 Ranchero.
Easy upgrade with 2 inch square tubing.
All you need is a measuring tape a cut off saw, grinder and a mig welder.

They don't need to be "substantial". I used 16 ga 2x2" tubing which is as thick as anything it's welded to. No need to add extra weight, you aren't building a bridge. They pass through a 2" wide slit in the rear footwells and  are flush with the bottom of the floor there and leave a gap under the seat.
