This is the first time I had Les Port for me, and I have to say I am pretty impressed

Not only because of decent numbers and nice work, but also because I gave him a list of things I wanted and he met it to the letter

The heads are D2TE-AA and I needed the exhaust port to stay the same height and width for my headers.

So I asked for a full port, 2.09/1.67 valves, new guides, machine for Viton seals, gasket match to 1247, but more than that, I wanted the port to copy a med riser port with a nice steady taper to the bowl.  I also had him unshroud the intake valves a bit, and do the best he could without changing the exhaust port size

The numbers are decent, well above a box stock set of Edels or CJ iron, and should work well on my 445 truck motor with a .519 lift cam

. Lift  Int    Exh
.200  167    122
.300  217    166
.400  264    180
.500  273    182
.600  277    184
.700  277    186

It's no race motor, but should be a fun set of heads on a 10:1 445 with a 750, 1 inch spacer, a ported RPM and a 270H cam on 110 ICL

Here is an intake port and a chamber, I can't get a proper exhaust port pic to save my butt.  All the exhaust pics look goofy but they are actually as well machined as the intake

Very nice! How did Les treat the short turn radius on the intake side? Did he lay it back at all?
I like the undercut valve stems. Any idea on what brand they are?

I bought the parts, it was a budget build, everything was from Alex's Parts in CA

It's offshore stuff., this was planned to be a low RPM motor, to be honest I didn't expect Les to get the numbers he did out of these things

As far as the short turn, he ground on it to be sure, laid it back a bit, but its still a relatively sharp turn, which seems to make sense as the port pretty much flattens out above .500.  Good for this application, but would be a turd on my Mustang LOL

Ross did les do a baseline flow test on your virgin castings before any work was done? Im curious what the numbers were and under what testing conditions were used? That's a rockin' set of D2's for sure....

He didnt, but most of them flow in the 220s, D2s and C8s are ugly puppies

I can't wait to see how the old girl does.

I wonder if Les hogged iron out of the intake bowls until he was able to form the airfoils on the valve guide bosses? Or did he have to add weld to the boss? Anyhow.... that will be a feature I will do my best to copy.

I was hoping to get the motor in the frame this weekend, but got some honey-dos to do as well, doesnt look like its going to happen

Here's some pics as it sat this AM though!  Not pictured, I did get the rear glass in with a new seal and the gas tank reinstalled.

The business end, should be the better side of 450 hp, hoping anyway, first time I did something with real good heads and a baby cam!

There will be a 1 inch cloverleaf spacer under the 3310, I just set the carb on as it for a little more photogenic profile LOL

Seeing the tell tale mark of CB antenna mount on the back of the cab and the saddle blanket seat covers immediately took me back to a very fun period in my life.
My friends and I REALLY tested the Built Ford Tough motto!!

That body style in a 1/2 ton short bed 4X4 ,with a 445,  33" tires,  the color ....should be a sweet truck.

Thanks guys, on the "development" list while the bed is off is an over rider traction bar, much like a Shelby setup.

The old 397 used to wrap up the springs like nobody's business, I figure this will be worse.  That and a true trac in the rear should get the rear to plant, sorta LOL

71 Ford Candy Apple Red, its the darker of the 2 reds Ford used back then.  Original color

I did get something done this weekend, fuel tank and rear window glass.  Sticker have been there since the 80s...

A couple are peeling, will replace them with some from the modern build.  May seem corny, but the truck has always been a little of a wild child, the stickers are sort of like a tattoo on a hot girl :)

^^^ Tatoos on a hot girl... what a coincidence. You gotta have a look at that thread jab just posted.  ;)

Like the color. Think I'd like mine a shade lighter in the sun though.
