Craig, in Phoenix.  Pretty new to automotive side of mechanics.  Did Harley’s during my service in the Marines and after till about ‘08.  Had a nice ‘78 F100 with a 302 in it when I was young.  Fast forward to few years ago I sold all my bikes and picked up a ‘48 Fleetline. And after that a ‘58 Mercury Monterey.  Right now tearing out the original MEL 383 and Merc-o-matic  and putting in a 390/ c6.   Found the board while hunting for valve covers and boom here I am.

Hey everyone.  Been lurking here for a few months but thought I should say hi.  Picked up this '64 Monterey back in March.  Super solid Texas car.  390 with an Edelbrock 1406 and the CruiseOMatic.  I will admit it took some time to get used to manual drums and manual steering.  Ha!  Any kind of change in direction or change in speed requires you to mean it!  LOL!

Anyway, I've learned a ton from this site so far.  Tons of good info.  I'm looking forward to learning more!

Also, that Pepboys steering wheel went straight to the trash heap as soon as I got the car home  :)

Hi fellas. I’m Gavin Houghton from Lowell MI. I’m 43yrs old and I’ve been into FE’s since my teens.
Here in MI we have sand dunes to play in so all of my stuff has been sand race stuff. Very similar to
mud racing.
My first was a dual four 410 in a 1970 highboy, which was quickly replaced by a 427 tunnel port.
It ran extremely well despite the weird heavy truck, big port combo. Felt like a 2 stroke when the ports started to work lol.
Then I pulled the tunnel port out and put it in a 62 unibody. It was my first time experimenting with a 2wd. Never had a chance to sort that combo out, then life got in the way for a long time.
My current toy is a 482 in a 1981 bronco. I’ll see about getting some pics and specs in the members projects section. I’m really excited about Jays new heads as I’d like to upgrade soon. Assuming he’ll sell them to a nobody lol.
It’s great to be here with so many knowledgeable FE guys. I think I’ll really enjoy it, and maybe even have something to contribute

I actually registered for this forum in 2012 but have only posted 11 times.  I am a creature of habit and long time member of the Network 54 forum (since 2001) so I have usually just monitored and posted there.  I know a lot of people are active on on both forums and recognize your names. The technical issues on this forum seem a little more  sophisticated than the Network 54 forum so I apologize in advance for any "dumb" questions I might post here.  The Network 54 Forum internet connectivity issues have become too much of a  hassle for me.  Also, bluntly, some of the "food fights" on the Network 54 over  the years have  become tiresome.

Hi everyone, glad to be apart of this forum! I have been lurking for about a year and have learned a ton by being here. Earn my living as a auto tech at a family owned garage for the last 42 years. When I started cars had points, now they are computers that happen to have an engine. Three years ago I finally bought the 64 Galaxie I have been wanting since I was a kid. Got it with 39k miles, a 352, backed up with a cruise o matic. Starting my 428, C6 build for it, so I am sure I have some questions. In the stable is a 70 Boss 302 and a 66 GTO ragtop.

Thanks Joe Menard

Welcome, if it's really you and you haven't turned the real Starliner Ron into a brain-eating zombie.

Hello,  My name is Adam.  Some of you have seen me on the HAMB, MEL, and other forums.  I have been stalking Jay's FE forum for quite awhile, so figured it was time to actually join.

I have a 352 powered '62 Mercury Monterey Custom Wagon and a 390 powered '76 F-250 extended cab.   I also have a '51 F-1 street rod with a 351W and 5 speed, a '63 Fairlane 2 door post project, a '60 Ford C600 Chassis Cab with a Lincoln Y-Block, and an '85 F350 quad cab dually with a 6.9 IDI.  So that covers nearly the complete range of Ford products.  At the end of the day, the FE is my favorite, although the MEL is growing on me.

I am currently working on building a 6-71 blown '58 430 MEL to dump into the '51 so the Windsor can get used in the Fairlane.

The Merc and its 352
