1969 Mach 1 Driver
« on: February 29, 2016, 11:18:04 PM »
This is my street cruser I had for 42 yrs. Its no race car, but is respectable. Full Interior stereo 100 watt amp and all. Car will go faster if I leave harder. I have been leaving at 3500 this year I will step it up a bit. I might even try powershifting lol. I am out to have some fun and not make any more carnage. Two years ago I spun the rear housing ,tore the pearches broke the driveshaft and twisted the tailshaft. I am glad it was on the starting line and not the finish line and no body damage.

very nice, I remember that car. You need to get it to go 11.99 so your in hot FE. That way there is one less 12 second car I have to worry about. Just watch out for the ratty 62 running in the 16's. Hope to see ya there this year.

I run the 275x 50 M/T drag radials for street use but when on the track I get a very hard driveline shock when launching the car at 2500-3000 with the TKO manual trans.  Do you expierence this also?
From what I read/hear a bias ply type slick would wind up a bit to absorb the shock on a manual trans application.
I was running a 3.50 gear and running 11.00-10.90's at 131 MPH.

This year at Beaver Springs FE Reunion I did a little better than the previous years. I was having bogging issues leaving the line. I got new drag radials MT ET Street SS these things stick good. I finally left at 4500 and the car left hard.. I Dialed a 12.00 which was the fastest I could go in that bracket. Since I have never gone faster than 12.10 I never thought I would break out. I went 3 rounds and everyone broke out giving me the win. The last round I caught the 15 sec car and let off  way before the finish line and went 11.87. Makes me mad I should have stayed in it and I would have known the possible fastest e.t.

yeah, something changed by elimination time. I dialed my fast time for the day & run under it by .17 on the brakes. that is a lot. hard to believe the air got that much better, but who knows. I think it must have been the pull of the moon, high tide. yeah, that's it.
