This is crazy.
« on: April 02, 2021, 07:55:24 AM »
I have a customer who ordered a 704 hp. Ram TRX 10 months ago. Truck came in this week and the dealer offered him 20 grand not to take it and let them have it. He took the truck. Said it cost him a tad over 100k with the taxes.  Sure makes that R Comet look cheap at 41K.

The Ford dealer I work at sells all types of Shelbys like you would not believe. $10500.is a cheap one. A lot of the trucks are up around 15 to 20.

The old saying "where two fools met"....no insult intended, but a quick 20K profit on a replaceable item and not taking it seems nuts. I know there is the "collectible" aspect to it, but I don't see that combo going anywhere. It will likely depreciate like all have.....Ford Lightning, Dodge V10 Viper truck, Chevy SS truck etc. They won't take the full hit like others but still. Cars seem to hold the value on that, not trucks really. But then again, maybe 20K is not much or thinks he can squeeze more. I know of a guy that was offered around 10K profit on the same truck a few weeks back....his money but there may be an "I told you so" coming down the pipe HAHA. They are fast, and cool and the web has helped create that.

It's no big deal to order a F-150 that'll run you 100K.  Just order the Platinum and a couple of upgrades. Anything with a diesel in the F-350 level on the lot last year was 70K+The few F-150s here are all over 50K.  And that's just XLT trim stuff with like an Ecoboost.

My dad likes to tell me how he bought a new ‘65 F250, new ‘78 F250, new ‘94 F150, and used ‘95 F150 for a total of just under $26,000.  Still driving the ‘95 F150.  That’s 56 consecutive years of owning a full size pickup.

I think it’s weird to realize every time he bought a truck, the current new truck price on base models was more than the total combined price of all the previous trucks he bought.  The price of base model trucks roughly doubles every 14ish years.
