275/60R15 on 8" Magnums, 4.50" back spacing.  Stock wheel lips, stock rear sway bar, stock springs, etc.  The pinch point is with the sway bar.  I've run 245's on the front, 7" wheels, 4.25" back spacing but currently have 235/60R15's on 7" rim, 4.25" backspacing.

Concur on the rear - same, using a 54" flange-to-flange Currie housing.  4.5 BS, same tire or comparable slick.  We only ran 3.5~4" rims in the front.

Thanks fellas! Am contemplating new rims and tires as I've tired of the now 26 year old ones that still look great but with updated hp, the rears need to be bigger and wider.

Late to the game, but I run the same, 275/60-15, 5.5 inch BS on 8 inch rears, front are 7 inch, not sure of BS.  In this pic, 215/65-15, but later went 235/60-15.  Both looked good, 235's a little more beef to them

Thanks Ross! Say, is that a Boss 9 scoop?

I looked long and hard at one for my '70 Mach1 but thought it was a tad too high. Then, I looked at the similar almost identical hood on a Cougar Eliminator at a car show and found the shorter height looks perfect. Cut a hole and threw one on last year. Will update my pic here once she comes out  of her deep Winter sleep as it's 1 degree here in suburban Chicago, 15-16" of snow on the ground and more coming today!

Yes it's a Crites Boss 9, some of the others are a bit taller, this one is very close to accurate, and I located it based on a survivor that was in VA when I put it on.  I don't even notice it other than it makes you feel a little tougher when driving. :)

We have about a foot on the ground here, but just dry and cold for the next week!

see www.69stang.com and vmf. its a debate. seems 285 and 295 for sure without mods. and some are at 315's. not sure of mods. you have a lot more room than my 67. i'm at 275. the biggest gotcha for me was understanding backspace does or doesn't (i forget) include the bead. and some where you may find the 'chart' of members and what they have. happy hunting!

on 69stang search for backspace. found 15x10 5.5 backspace 295 50s post with pics and clearance measurements. stock rear everything. post indicates room for bigger tighter.  i do think 17’s allow wider on front for your year.  on 67, 17’s allow for wider fronts. but in retrospect 17’s are somewhat out of place. but thats what i have. for vintiques at least bead is not included in backspace measure. my fronts are a little tight to the stock calipers.

This is a difficult topic  . Some I believe has to do with brake gap  . I see numbers all over the charts with back space all over the charts with supposedly stock 54" housings and offsets that are an inch or more different. I am about to stick 29 10.5s on the back of my R code and 17X 28 front runners...  I am not wanting to screw up the outer lip as its still nice and original but may give the inner some luvin if need be,,,
For reference there are two different brake gaps . 2.50 and I believe 2.63 . Not much but could make the difference . In my experience its always been at the front that the issue arises . Rubbing on the rear of the rocker and hitting the inner wheel house .

I've been fitting tires and wheels to the rear of my '54. It's not easy with the low wheel opening. in searching I found this, good idea:

But, you need one more dowel, at the max tire section height, as well as the max tire diameter, especially for 15" tires.
