Gauging Interest - version 2.0 - intake questions
« on: January 21, 2021, 03:53:25 PM »
While putting together a deal to cast more of my heads (after an extended delay), another opportunity has come up.

Edelbrock is no longer offering the Dominator flange Victor intake.  Are there enough folks out there who would still want a 4500 flange single plane?  While apparently not enough volume for large companies to machine and inventory, I have the chance to purchase raw single plane castings and machine them as I desire.  Local machining and custom capabilities would allow me to offer some port match and pushrod hole customization (or deletion) at a reasonable cost.

I am interested in the heads, if you can still get them ported.

Barry, I've had at least 3 people call me over the last 6 months, looking to see if I still had my Victor with the Dominator flange for sale.  I'd bet you could sell some...

Porting and machining suppliers are things I am working on as part of this program.
The folks supplying castings are not able to provide machining services do to a partial plant relocation and Covid stuff.
My local CNC guy went out of business - doubtless assisted by Covid and state government shutdowns.

For a healthy FE, intakes with a 4500 flange seem to be drying up. Edelbrock has also discontinued the 2863.

Could there be a smaller, higher velocity, version to get into the Street Master/Dominator niche?

First effort would just be same as or close to existing Victor.  Changes limited to machining what the casing allows.

I would think a smaller-port version with the EFI cast in bungs would be pretty popular. I lucked onto a Victor with the EFI provisions and also a set of the rails to go with it, before they were discontinued. Strange that they don't offer an RPM with the bungs

The Victor comes cast with a rather small port opening as is - and the 4150 flange EFI one is still available.
Asfor port bungs on a dual plane - the media folks seem to have convinced folks that a dual plane can't be used that way.  As far as I know, only one guy has run a dual plane with port EFI on an FE (I imagine there have to be others...).  I cant imagine who that guy could be, but his dual plane, 4500 flange, port EFI engine made over 700HP at 7400 RPM, with 433 inches on 11:1 compression....

Will the intake be a clean slate designed one? If so I'd think a taller intake would be more beneficial than just rehashing what is already out there

Hello Barry,

Did you get this figured out for the CNC work on the intakes if you get some ordered ?

I know a few people in S0-Cal with machines. They might have an interest in the machine work.
