Positive spin
« on: March 13, 2020, 05:17:19 PM »
Well as many of you know I’m a camera operator in Hollywood.
Started shooting shows with no audience this past week. Getting the emails now that everything is going down till at least the 30th.
So, I’ll have plenty of time to work on my cars, Damn. :)
Don’t mean to be flippant because many will be in a tough spot but it’s a welcome deal for me. Just hope Summit and my local suppliers like fastener companies stay working.
Lemons/lemonade. Hope y’all don’t get hurt to bad.

I'm hoping that it all blows over by the time of the FE Reunion, I'd hate to miss that, or see the event cancelled...

Pretty sure Ford Spring Columbus 2020 is cancelled, and the club will just keep the space deposits for Spring of 2021.

I hope the FE Reunion isn't cancelled. I won't be there anyway but not sure I could now. My neighbors are in a 14 day quarantine after returning across the border from Mexico. I would imagine that applies to going across the Canada/US border too.

It's going to be a tough year.  Schools are closed here, local elementary for at least the week.  Other schools in the area are closed a bit longer.  70% or more of the local kids are on free lunch programs.  And there is no daycare at all here in Merkel (2600 ish population) - other than maybe a few sitters here and there for 2 or 3 kids - and there are waiting lists for anything in Abilene.  So anyone at a small business without sick leave, etc is going to be in a real bind.  We can work from home and our 9 yr old grandson can stay here during the day.  Drives us a bit nuts LOL, but is a good thing we are here and can do it so mom can work.  The other two (3 yr and 1 yr) are at a private sitter out of town.  At work we are moving to on-line classes until at least 4/17.  The mayor in Abilene put a limit on indoor and outdoor gatherings to 250 or less.  Our track is inside the city limits, so we'll see about how that works out.  NHRA has halted all events until April at Houston.  The situation is fluid, so who knows right now.

No cases documented here, but we have 3 universities, two jr colleges and several school districts that had kids, etc everywhere over spring break.  Our university had people in New York, CA, Israel, Italy, mission trips, etc.   So IMHO only a matter of time.

With the shale stuff in this area, we have people running from El Paso to Midland, Abilene, Fort Worth/Dallas and back all the time.

We've already lost .00000023 of the population of our country so far.

I'm planning on putting some work into my '62 while I've got the time. Working from home, but it seems that the work load is diminishing as the week goes on. Maybe I'll have the '62 ready in time for my wedding after all? I wasn't originally intending on it.

The Drunk Monkey killing Beer is a given.

BTW, anyone that has eaten a roller dog from a gas station, while on Drag Week, is most likely immune to anything.

Pain is there right now, getting worse.  West Texas Intermediate is under $28/bbl.  IIRC, they can operate and eat dinner around $35~45 somewhere.
