Master cylinder quality

Need a new M/S for 2001 Lincoln MKS

Dont mind paying top dollar but not sure which one to get

Have no idea where they are made anymore

Bought pads and rotors for my 2009 F150, told my parts guy I wanted US made parts

They were Wagner, did not look at boxes till I arrived home, rotors were made in china .....

When I was at F-M the Wagner division had the Ford service parts account.  The parts for Ford were made to a significantly higher quality level than the parts sold in the traditional market, often from alternate sources and with a concurrently higher cost.

When it comes to something critical like brakes I would rather purchase better parts instead of searching for the lowest price.  Unfortunately it has become almost impossible to identify or purchase high quality products anymore in the traditional replacement market.  Seems we choose between cheap and crappy, cheaper and crappier, or cheapest junk available...

3 or 4 well known auto parts master cylinders are made in china, the ones that knew that is ..

When I needed to replace the MC on my '63 Effie ICB, I found it almost impossible to get a replacement. I did discover that rebuild kits were readily available, so I pulled it and tore it down to see how bad it looked inside. Then I bought a kit and a brake hone.

It worked like a charm. I probably spent about $10-15 and it took me about a half hour to do the rebuilding job. I don't remember the cost for the replacement I did find available, but it was surely several times what I ended up spending.

I replaced the MC and the booster on the F-350 about 3 years ago with Wagner chinese parts from rockauto.com.  Nothing bad about any of it, working good.  Same with the rear drums, front pads, headlight assemblies, etc.

Wonder if it whatever iron/steel they melt down.. or different plants ??

I have read on more than a few sites, some of the mills use recycled iron/aluminum ..



The wagner/chinese rotors pads on the front of my 2009 F150 wore quickly

The inside pad, drivers left,  wore down to the metal less than 15,000 miles

All of the rotors were worn way down, I found some old stock rotors/pads from rockauto

They are wearing like the original parts

Yea, that's a good statement to the current situation - YMMV big time.  Pne set of parts works geed, next set not so much.  Shopping rock auto closeouts isn't a bad idea either.
