Would it be a better Idea to sell the VC's and get some that would clear a brake booster?
Ford CJ covers and 1966 Merc Pentroofs have a facet designed for brake booster clearance.
Just a thought. How about a picture of your VC's? I've got almost every set made for a FE (except Jays yet)
so I could compare.

I am taking your advice.  I'm going to sell the sheet metal valve covers that I bought, and get a set of 428 Cobra Jet "Snake" Cast covers (US made, not the Mexico version) and hand-polish them.  I know they'll fit, and then I can keep a dual diaphragm 9" booster instead of sacrificing braking ability.

If your running disks the smallest single diaphram booster you could use is an 8" booster.

Put the OE  valve covers on it with the Bendix booster and master it came with. Issue solved.
