A variant was used here on the horse sledges they used to haul lumber out from the forest
in the winter. They watered the sledge tracks on the base roads to be able to take big loads.
But then they needed som form of brake in the hills. Here it is called Skurjärn
My father in law told me,wifes grandfather had North Swedish workhorses whole his life.
He lived at the foot of a mountin there was a road up that mountin were he so to speak dynoed
the horses. When he finaly bougt a car in the 60s he had to test it up that road, he gave my F,I,L
a piece of a log and said ride with me and jump out and throw it behind the wheel when it stops,
so it dont roll down the hill
