The modulator line for the transmission? I'm at a loss as to why that would cause a low speed miss, or any miss period, for that matter.
yes trans modulator is run off vac from the carb.i looked up symptoms of bad modulator and one of them was poor idle,it could be all the above.i put new plugs,new gas cleaned the inside of the dist,set timiing,and adjusted the acc pumps on the carb, but whatever, its fixed

thanks for the reply but i just solved it.i had to go to a chevy website to get someone to reply and figure it out. sorry,low blow just kidding...

Is the modulator bad allowing atf into the line? If so I would say you have a short term workaround rather than a fix.

whatever it was it took years to clog,no big deal swaping a modulator,just screw it in.its obvious im not a mrchanic.i have a high school education and worked in a glass factory for 33 years but i know just enough to get myself in trouble working on the engines.i have owned and driven as many fe cars as most,but my skills dont go much further than a top end swap.i have never really built a engine from scratch.i relied on my uncle till he passed a few years back.he had 21 certification's at one point and he could do just about anything,and he raced fords to boot. but all i wanted to know is why i have a miss at 2000 that clears up when the rpms raise

Glad you found it but....only ATF getting sucked into the intake manifold, given no vaccuum leak from the attachment hoses, could cause your oil-fouling miss. Agree you should now be regularly checking the modulator and lines for more leaking ATF as that may betray another tranny related issue.

i understand the mod line plugged off or not could not cause my 2000 rpm miss.what is weird is it would do it throttling up or down you could be doing 4000 rpms for miles and then let off the gas slowly and when you drop to 2000 it starts.i have been changing so much stuff im not sure what the fix is.
