Wow..........to be able to drive a bare metal truck around...........LOL!!   Not in Ohio   ;D   I do have a friend with a bare metal, original '41 Willly's with a hemi, but he clear coated it.

We were really dry all summer.  Now it rains every few days, which really brought the old yard back to green, but hard to keep a vehicle looking clean!  Though snow is on the horizon......ugh.

My garage/shop.
« Reply #18 on: October 09, 2018, 12:17:23 PM »
I looked for many years for a garage, and finally purchased one 10 years ago, only 1/4 mile from my house.

It was probably built before 1920. I paid it off before I retired 5 years ago.

It is on a main North-South street in Wyoming, Michigan (a suburb of Grand Rapids), and adjacent to railroad tracks and a 75' right-of-way on the North end of the building.

In total, it is 6,000 square feet, with a 180 foot back wall. I added a 2,000 sq ft rental area by building a dividing wall on 2,000 sq ft of the North side, with a 10' x 10' overhead door. The main shop area is 180' x 30' deep, and my shop area is 90' long x 30' deep with another 10' x 10' overhead door.. The office area on the left side extends out 20', by 30' wide. The 14' interior height wood ceiling beams are supported every 20' by 18" tall steel I-beams.

I installed a #12,000 hoist that is wide enough the drive my dual rear wheel F-series trucks on, without needing to fold the West Coast mirrors.

It has a 30' wide, 2 ton overhead capacity crane that used to run the length of the building

This is my old shop (during a garage tour) in North-West Minnesota.  The property is currently for sale, since I took a new job in Missouri and am currently hunting for another shop.  The old shop was (is) 41' x 41', Heated and Air conditioned with 11' walls.  Hopefully I can find something with a bit more room.

You're lucky to have a hole in the ground. I just have a cardboard box with holes cut out for light. It's burnt to the ground 8 times over the last few winters while starting a fire to stay warm ;D

I like the fighters hanging from the ceiling! I'd say it needs a fighter biplane, but America didn't have any during WW1.
