IT IS 2.75 IN DIAMETER & 13/16" TALL. THE DOWEL HOLE IS ELONGATED. Sorry for shouting.

So I'm slow & broke, what went wrong?

Use a one piece and verify the dowel is long enough and of course a heavy washer that covers part of the dowel. Same as a 385 series if you need to buy a new one.
I have yet to see a two piece correctly fit an aftermarket timing set. What happens is it wedges the outer shell not allowing it to rotate then the inner doesn't sit flat for the bolt which then distorts, usually breaking which reduces clamp load. I have taken apart several like this but cam bolt was still tight surprisingly.

I run only electrics, I would be an electric pump and filter on it personally.

I use a Carter P4600HP it's quiet and feeds my 447ci engine sufficiently.
