Your truck reminds me of my 68 F100.  But I traded it for my 69 XR7 GT-390 Cougar Convertable. Nice truck.  Clifford

I got my tailgate on, not too exiting of an update, but I have been detailing every single piece and making everything look pretty.  Having a loose shoulder and torn bicep is slowing me down more than I thought.

FWIW, I took my junkyard Ford panel, which had some scratched paint and cleaned/polished it a little.  That's an original Ford piece from the early 70's, came out pretty decnt.

Still on the fence if I will paint the flat back background again, probably so, I usually prefer the stock look, but for now its sort of a 71 F100 "Platinum" Edition LOL

Looking damn nice! If you are gonna hit that panel with flat black I'd reverse it and paint the lettering black and leave the background chrome.

I think it looks pretty good just the way it is.  I'd leave it...

Hi Ross
Helluva  job for an airman with one wing. I.ll  bet  you can stand that truck on end  out on the flight line. Your troops must love it   Still don't know how you pass all those periodic P T  tests the Air Force  demands.
Say I will be back that way in early or mid April. We have a dealer here with cases upon cases of the Brad Penn oil.  Can I bring you some back?

Passed the last one with a torn bicep!

The key is, run hard once, or do it multiple times....what amazes me is that running an 8 minute mile for 1.5 miles I outrun a LOT of young kids and absolutely shouldn't.  Its not slow for a 44 year old, but 20 year olds should run faster!

I think there is a "give a shit" factor that we old guys have that the young kids don't  LOL

I may just take you up on the Brad Penn delivery, let me check what I have left, I bought some clearance stuff a while back need to see how much I have laying around

I don't know if I agree with you on that running stuff Ross.  I was only in the army for 3 years but I pushed myself hard (not to mention being pushed, lol) but I never could run worth a damn.  Seemed like I got assigned to units where the CO wanted to run just a tad faster than I was able and I'd usually end up returning with another company that had been behind us.  I never had a problem passing the PT tests and I never had a problem going the distance as long as I didn't have to go that farkin fast. They had me in to see the docs and I had all sorts of breathing tests, inhalers etc and nothing seemed to help.  Now the interesting part, both my kids tried out for high school sports and told me they can't run worth a damn either.

Speaking of running, hows that truck doing man??   I see nice weather in store for you next week according to weather.com, hope you get a chance to burn some rubber =)

Just waiting for one piece that I wasn't happy with to get resprayed, of course I saw it MONTHS ago and just remembered to drop it off Friday LOL

After that, hang the grille and its ready to take down the road.

Need to get it finished, itching to get it out and play with the Mustang again

Today I got the grille together after painting all the small parts, although after this pic I think I will shift the hood over to the drivers side just a smidge

New bumper is on its way, and the baby west coast mirrors are disassembled, going to reassemble with all new stainless hardware.

After that its just the rain gutter moulding, the "Heavy Duty Special" badging, FORD on the hood, and put some miles on it.

He's got a lot more patience than I'd have had. Were that beaut of a truck mine it'd already have a few hundred "around the block and through the field" miles on it.  ;D

Oh I took it out, needs a little TLC, picture this...

A couple circles around the block, no mirrors, no door panels, no seat belts, flat spots on the tires, no alignment and brakes a bit out of adjustment.

You can see where this is going :)

So my daughter and I decide we are going to open her up on the main drag....two 5500 rpm shifts and it does haul the mail, ALL over the road, I hit the brakes and it goes right then left, as my daughter is white knuckled LOL

We get to the next light after slowing down and there are 2 sheriffs cruisers sitting there.  My daughter asks, "Think we are in trouble?"  I told her not to make eye contact and laughed LOL  I waved and drove straight back to the house.

I adjusted the brakes, but need to figure out why its all over the road :)  The motor sure runs strong though, 5500 came very fast, much better than the old 390!

The first drive is always a scary one for me,  did I tighten those bolts, did I remember those clamps, you know all those things that cross your mind while the adrenaline is pumping LOL
