Word is Joel & Jeff left home about 1 am and are headed to Dragweek!
    Plan B body?
I talked to Joel in line and he is in his F.A.S.T. GTX or else it's a very highly customized Coupe. :)

They threw in the towel on the coupe at 1AM last night, with fuel pressure and fuel leakage issues on that 8 carb setup.  Imagine that LOL!  Hats off to Joel's trunk monkey, Jeff; he stopped by my place a week ago and told me he thought the GTX was going to be the ride because Joel wouldn't finish the coupe in time.  He called it...

Maybe they couldn't get the fuel pressure low enough. :)

LMAO. Trunk Monkey. That still cracks me up. Jay how would you rate Joel's skills in this field? And what would your expectations be of a world renowned trunk monkey? I might be looking to do a career change if theres good money in the trunkus monkus biz.

A Paxton charged small block. I don't know the details because the owner wasn't there when I was looking at it. Very nice car though.

Yep, it was a long haul today, so I wanted to get through and hit the road. Almost 300 miles with no overdrive, I knew it would be a long day on the road. I was in the lane after Alan and ran about 10-15 minutes after him. About a half hour after the racing started if I had to guess.

That Cougar is pretty wild, looks like it all fits under the stock hood.
Good luck the rest of the week.

Sorry to inform that Mr. Jim Kitchen with the 1968 Torino and his brother with the 64 Falcon are both out of competition.

My buddy with his twin turbo Ranger got in, but blew a head gasket and is also out of competition. The Fords are dropping like flies. :-[

Yep, I'm out. Had a fair day at Cordova. Hit the road Monday for a long trip to gateway. About 30 miles from the track I found my brother on the side of the road with a lifter issue. After about six hours of work we had him on the road. We rolled into St. Louis about 4am and got a shower. Left for the track a smoked an alternator. We finally got a new one installed and headed for the track. In About the first 100 feet of the trip to the track we were trying to blow the air cleaner off the carb about every second. We made a decision just to get it to the track and look at it there. We rolled in about 10am. Pulled the valve covers off and found 2 two broken push rods that totally destroyed the rocker arms. Enough is enough. I started to help my brother with is car. More lifter problems, but this time the cam had taken enough damage it need to be replace. We both threw in the towel.
Dragweek is challenging and rewarding. Sometimes just getting there is victory itself. I went for my son. The support was overwhelming. Kevin stopped by everyday. Several other members came by and expressed there support. It was a great time. No regrets. I watched Doug run from the stands. He has a beautiful car.
We made a pass near the end of the street eliminator class. Pretty good launch. I hate that I let a pro tree surprise me. I left without enough rpm. About the middle of second the fuel pressure regulator quit. I barely made it. 12.99 @ 100 mph. 1.63 short time. 3830 lbs across the scales. All in all we loved it. Thanks everybody for everything.
It's a love hate relationship!
