The 405 didn't do so well down in Mississippi...

Just some very empty pockets! :'( I wish Big Chief could have made a clean pass, I think it may have been close.

Notice Jeff Lutz was nowhere to be seen last night.  Last yr he was a fixture..   I suppose he has to maintain his NHRA license to run Drag Week.

I thought as soon as he raced in "cash days" last season, that he would be suspended. Maybe not? ???
Never mind, I was thinking of Mike Murillo! :-[

I watch it and enjoy it, but its funny how much the show has changed in the last 2 years. It used to be pretty small, and they tried to make it look like they were really out street racing with lookouts for cops and everything. Now, they don't even try. It's gone the way of other "reality" shows and is much more fabricated now.

It is a bummer that some of those other guys won't be allowed on the show because they depend on NHRA racing for their lively hood, but I can see the NHRA side of things as well. We have all street raced, but we all know its illegal and dangerous and if we get caught we are most likely going to lose our car or go to jail. It looks real bad for the NHRA for their professional drivers to be showing up and participating in illegal activity, even if it is faked.

One thing is for sure, those cars are darned fast! Did you guys see them on an actual track and 275 radials? Murder Nova turned ran a 4.40 at 177 in the 1/8th on the small tires!

Wow, 4.40 in the eighth is smokin'.  Despite all the fantasy stuff about watching out for the cops and street racing, what I really like about the show is that the cars really are very, very fast...

No kidding they are! That's the only reason I watch it. The racing is real, and there's a pretty neat competition between the cars. I ignore the drivers and the "showmanship". When you can pull a solid wheelie on regular asphalt or concrete and not just a real dragstrip, that's pretty darned impressive!

Yeah, traction is impressive for the street. If they aren't spinning, it's wheels up!

I don't have cable TV, so I've never seen the show before. But with all the talk about it on the internet, I watched the new episode on youtube.
Good entertainment, kinda fun to watch, but I agree it is like the WWF.
I do not believe that they actually race. It is all staged, fake, theatrics. They NEVER once showed a race. Just a bunch of short little clips that appear to be staged for the camera, which was mounted on the back of a squirrel, with a monkey operating the remote, then edited to kind of sort of look like a race happened.
I also don't believe that anyone would let their competitor prep the road like a track assuring themselves a loss, in a race for $10 grand.
I don't suppose I'll watch it anymore, unless they start showing real racing.

Oh I assure you they're racing! I'm not sure how you'd stage a guy sliding off the road and just about rolling his car. They just show it from 5 different angles, at about 1/2 second intervals from every angle. That's just the way they film stuff now, which REALLY irks me (I could think of a better word than "irks", but in the interest of keeping it clean). 1 second clips is the norm for just about every show on every channel now. And we wonder why we have such short attention spans ::)

I don't have cable either. YouTube or internet TV for me.

Where I live, in a 10grand street drag race, the winner would need a fast car (to get away).

Round here, that kinda money, I know folks that'd probably kill a whole zipcode.
