Moved 427 Project to main shop months ago and finally got back on it a couple weeks ago! It will be 18yrs since I drove it last on Feb 1st.

In order to finish this project I sold one of my 1966 Ecoboost trucks (still 2 left)

I opened a absolute can of worms trying to make a few changes.

1) I was dead set on using the wheels back in post #55

2) I wanted bigger brakes. the 73-79 disc upgrade was just not going to cut it

3) More specific Baer 14" Pro 6 Piston @ all for corners  (3600lbs and a blip of throttle needs to be able to slow down/stop)

4) Always wanted to use a GV OD on that CJ-C6

5) At the time I built rear diff did not have the $ to add a 31 spline. Just added a posi to stock 28  Upgraded to nodular case, daytona retainer 31 Spline

6) 4340 Chromemoly 31 spline axle upgrade.

7) Can O Worms starts here.  Large brakes a minimum of 18" wheel is needed

8) 18" wheels (post 55) could not be made in 5 x 5 1/2" bolt pattern

9) Switch to 5 x 4 1/2" bolt pattern meant custom Hubs for the large brakes/custom axles for rear

10) The dropped 3" front I beams had to go to allow for proper wheel fitment as the dropped tie rod piece would not clear for proper offset on 8" wheel

So, I pretty much started over on suspension, brakes, axles, diff and added the GV OD.

Tires are Continental Extreme Contact Sport 285/40ZR18 rear and 245/45ZR18 Front
Wheels a Schott one off to look like Halibrands . . (its only wheel I really liked to go with rest of truck)

One of my last posts I showed the original box with a late model F250 Floor. I think it turned out quite well but the newer floor was just too different.

Since there is so much NOS stuff on this truck and goal was to make it look like when it was new less the engine and tire wheel upgrade I ended up buying a short bed truck with a mint box and just start all over. I can use original box for a trailer or another project. These short boxes in nice shape are getting quite hard to find.

Here is what it looks like now as it was pushed into side shop to go up on 4 post hoist for the chassis and suspension work.

Your gonna' love those Baer brakes. Have the Baer 13.2" fronts on my '70 Mach 1 that did require in back in 1994 16" wheels (wish I had gotten 17" wheels then as 16" today have quite limited high speed rated tires!).

Anyway, although I believe you, it's hard to imagine in today's world you could not get an 18" wheel in the 5 x 5 1/2" pattern. I wonder why not?

Btw. love your build plan and how your doing the truck. Nice work!

2) I wanted bigger brakes. the 73-79 disc upgrade was just not going to cut it

3) More specific Baer 14" Pro 6 Piston @ all for corners  (3600lbs and a blip of throttle needs to be able to slow down/stop)

7) Can O Worms starts here.  Large brakes a minimum of 18" wheel is needed

8) 18" wheels (post 55) could not be made in 5 x 5 1/2" bolt pattern

Thanks! Been a dream truck for over 40 yrs. 427 S.O. 8v in a Orange 1966 F-100.
It was the ‘66 F100 dad bought new that made me love these trucks as a pretty young kid.
1966 Mercury Cyclone and a 1934 Ford Vicky were 2 other favorites.

The specific wheel I want is not available with 5 x 5 1/2 bolt pattern!

That’s why I said wheel in post #55. Is also posted wheel pic above.
There are no exposed lug nuts.  Makes it look much cleaner.

Love the Custom Wheels I had made! Wanted the Halibrand look but because of the 14" 6 piston Brakes I had to go to a minimum of a 18" wheel.

The final result is:
