Lots of Boss 302 'Stangs. Roof, inside and track videos make this one of the best road racing vids I've seen of real racers. The roof mounted vids are really terrific. Btw, get some popcorn as it's a 24 minute reel.

I've watched most of these Historic Trans Am race videos.....and they're fun to watch. Really neat to see the real cars getting out there and being flogged. I always thought that Trans Am racing would be more fun than drag racing, but the cost is even more prohibitive and there is only one track near me, although it is a biggie since it's Mid Ohio.

I went to the vintage races at Watkins Glen this year, the Trans Am class wasn't as big as the 2013 edition when it was the featured class, but it was still very good racing and great to see "real" cars versus the tube chassis stuff you see now.  They run VERY hard in that class, great to see them leaning on the cars, everything from Cobras to Boss to GT350s to big block Vettes....

I am a big fan of Trans Am stuff.I am just finishing my 67 replica and look forward to running it through its gears..

Vic and Camee got a little competitive at The Point. Note the sticker on the spoiler- Camee also drives an R-Model in B/P

Say, Lovehammer, did you build that wicked, period correct aluminum front spoiler. Man, I have wanted one for my '70 'Stang as, no kidding, with the flexy black plastic lower, my car definitely floats at high speed. Scary at times too.

I spent a lot of time trying to get the look I am after...The "R" model gas tank is pretty much unobtainium so I built my own.I put all the factory heater delete and radio delete stuff in because you just never see it.I just built it for fun but it got carried away.I swore I wasn't going to put it on my rotisserie and I ended up putting it up twice...

As far as the engine goes....Its a 1967 289 with typical parts in the short block other than the Avaid oil pan and Boss 302 windage tray.Heads are 67 with some dremel work stuffed with 1.9 and 1.6 valves.Cam is a comp hyd roller with all the associated goodies that go with it...
Intake is a old F-4B with a Holley 3310 on it...I was on ebay looking at something and in a unrelated picture I saw the original valve covers.I contacted the owner and he sold them to me along with the spacers to clear my roller rockers.Covers had the original CS decals on them...I removed (and saved) the decals and put Holman Moody ones on.

Trans is a W/R toploader with a very obscure finned top cover.
Rear is a 9" narrowed to 65/66 specs and has a traction lock with 3.73 gears.I stole the 10x2 1/2 rear brakes off the 68 for this car..
Front suspension is another story for later..

I like the hand built spoiler on the Boss car....what kind of wheels are those ???

I may build another one after I put the 427 car back together.I'm thinking a 68 with a Boss engine as I doubt I could find a tunnel port 302..

Finished....Just need to swap the rear tires and wait for the good weather..Car is running but trapped in the shop...
Focusing on the 427 car now....Camera doesn't like the shop lighting......Cory

their model year". " This gets me when the cars are decades different/upgraded in numerous components.. I saw many of the shown T/A cars on the video up close at the Amelia Island Concours.  One thing that caught my eye was the use of very narrow leaf springs and high numerical stacking of the  leaves to regain the spring pressure from the loss of spring width.  I thought it was a cool way to tuck in an extra inch or so of rubber under the rear-end of Mustangs. The sway bars were all likewise heim jointed and adjustable, very much modern race car style.
I noted the rear-suspensions springs/shocks/sway bars etc regardless of Mfg nameplate were all duplicates of each other. It looked like all the T/A cars were built in the same shop. One only needs the BOSS 302 Chassis Manual sold over the Ford Parts Counter to confirm not much remains of how they did it back then. The motors I presume are likewise addressed. Cool cars and all but about the only thing that remains original is the body shell, paint color and decals.
