Welcome John
You helped me with some parts and info on my 292 a couple years back.
Congrats on the great numbers.

I might actually consider that, if I could get my friend JC to buy a computer and get online.  It would be fun to publicly torment him  ;D

Isn't there a Y-Block forum somewhere Royce?

Ohhh that hurts  lol.  But a grain of truth... Not that the FE crowd is much better... Maybe walkers instead of wheel chairs...

I am 60. Last Y Block left Ford while I was in 4th grade. Last FE in a car when I was a sophmore..  Maybe I should start an assisted living facility for Ford-O-Philes..  Instead of shuffleboard we could have a drag strip

Yes, there is a Y block Forum, but as John (Geoff?) says it is problematic for some to access.. http://forums.y-blocksforever.com/default.aspx

Maybe we combine Lincoln Y,  MEL, and Y Block on one page..  That should add about a dozen viewers to you site  lol.

I would be amiss if I did not mention that unlike the FE crowd. Y Blockers have their own magazine!

This was lifted from the National Trails flyer for the All Ford Expo event labor day weekend.

The Ford Expo has developed strong editorial relationships with major media outlets that reach over a hundred thousand qualified muscle car motorsport enthusiasts.

I built my first Y-block in 1962, a 292 in my '56 Fairlane Victoria 2dr hardtop.  Now after having owned new Fords since 1966, I am back into a '55 Thunderbird with 292.  I have the new aluminum heads, intake, BT intake, Edelbrock 255 8V, and am gathering parts for a stroker for the '55 T-bird.  I am surprised at how the '55 T-bird will pull away in 3rd gear from a low speed.  It does have a lot of torque, and hopefully soon I will have some fun with a new 5speed conversion.  There are several neat articles in the Y-block magazines over the last several years.  Good reading.   Joe-JDC.

Very impressive! The builder really knows how to carefully pick the right parts and fab-up the connections to make this work. Would be cooler only if the engine was in a LSR car topping 250 mph!

Well, it may not be 250 mph but considering this y-blocker choose a F-100 to make his LSR runs, near 150 is pretty impressive from 304 c.i.

Wow, all this Y-block talk is really taking me back.  My Dad had a '56 or '57 Merc with a 312 in it, then a '61 Galaxy or Fairlane (or something - I was only 7 at the time) with a 292.  When he had the '56 (or '57), his company car was a '57 Chevy with a 265.  He got into a race with my Uncle (Dad in the Chevy, my Uncle was in the Merc), and the Merc waxed the Chevy pretty good.  I remember them talking about the race many times over the years.

Then, I remember my older brother and I playing in Dad's Chevy, somehow one of us knocked it out of gear, and it coasted down over a hill in the front yard and into a stone wall.  We both got wailed on pretty good for that one.  :(  Ahh, fond memories..   ;D

All this Y block talk got me off my ass to go go up and pick up and store a 292 that I had started a deal on a couple years ago.
A friend from another forum was taking it out of a truck to install a newer engine.
We made a deal that when he got it out I would come up and pick it up. We both understood we were not in a hurry.
Took him about a year to get to it and took me about a year to get the time/initiative to go get it (it was half way up the state).
I went and picked it up and got to meet another Ford lover face to face. Nice guy.
I hauled it the rest of the way up to my ranch in NorCal and put it on a pallet under a tarp.
Could not believe how complete it is. It has every piece with it to run and looks to be in great shape.
I'm thinking of a 30s or 40s truck for it.
So the parts collecting starts again.
I wonder if I have enough projects yet. ::)
