Motor Mounts

Looking for some motor mounts for the 427 that's going into my 66 Fairlane.
What is everyone using and who are you getting them from?
Appreciate any recommendations.

We had a long discussion on that a while back and general consensus came up as if you drive it a lot and do not have a highly modified engine then use the stock rubber part. The aftermarket urethane option to many were harsh in the unibody cars. Trucks would be less noticeable with the cab placed on body mounts.

+1 on the stock mounts.  If you  are worried about breaking them use a steel strap to hold the engine in place.

If your Fairlane is 66 or newer and your block is 65 or newer, definitely go with the stock mounts, if it's a sideoiler you will have to elongate one of the driver side mount bolt holes. If you have older parts use the Crites adaptors. A engine tie down strap is a good idea, particularly in a stick car.

It is common to attach some sort of link from the driver's side head-front area over to the 'frame-rail' area. A piece of chain and a turnbuckle can be used to good advantage. The purpose is to limit movement of the engine that might over-strain the motor-mount.

They can be fancy or plain. A hardware store turnbuckle works well. Not sure about the bolt-through-the-mount on Fords although it was common practice with BBC's and SBC's of the muscle car era. The turnbuckle is easy and can be added to any already installed engine. Heck, a hunk of heavy chain works too if the length matches up the bolt locations, with some play in the chain.

I like the nylon limiting straps, they look nice and no rattles like chain or cable.

I do on my 69 mustang. I used a nylock nut tightened only enough to allow some movement but not to tear the motor mount apart.
It is not visible when installed and works great.

I would think it would tear over time anyhow. Not so much on a stock engine but with a cam and intake or a stick trans you exert quite  beating there.

You didn't specify what year. If it is a 66 or 67 you can still find nos mounts at most ford swap meets or Carlisle swap meet.  I have built highly modified 427 Fairlanes using stock FORD mounts, never broke one in 4spd/street race cars.  If you are desperate I have an nos set I would part with.
