Quick time bell housing

I'm wanting to put my tremec 3550 behind my fe in my 62 Galaxie ,Has anyone ever used these...all I need is the bell housing and no adapter ?
1962 ford Galaxie 390 .030 Ross pistons,comp cam,edelbrock heads,tremec 3550 , 9" with 4:10 gears.....it's my idea of therapy , I'm always looking for vintage Stewart Warner gauges with curved glass and the crecent pointer

I think that are ready to use , no spacer what linkage set up are you using ? clutch fork ? and tranny cross member ? ..,Bud

I have one on the sbf in my Comet with t5. Fit fine with 65 Comet with stock clutch linkage.

   I run a Tremec TKO 600 behind my 410 in the 57 Fairlane. Stan Johnson (FPA) sells the Quicktime Bell Housing and he uses that bell housing to model his headers for use with the Tremec. I used a Lakewood Bell housing and had to notch the flange just a little to get his headers on my car. I'll try and post some pictures of it if I can get photobucket to work.

Let me clarify how my Tremec TKO install went. I called Bradley Wedan in Columbus, In and told him I wanted to put a Tremec TKO 600 in my 57 Ford with FE engine. HE gathered all the parts. He sent me the Lakewood Bell Housing, McCleod clutch and pressure plate, Mike Forte's needle bearing pilot bearing ( Mike Forte was the first guy I think to put a Tremec behind an FE and made the pilot bearing himself), thowout bearing, and ordered the TKO 600 from Tremec with the shortened input shaft to fit the application without using spacers and he sent me the rubber transmission mount. He also used the long throw shift pattern that I wanted. I had about $4500 in the conversion.
The moral to this is, I didn't know what I was doing so I found people that did it for a living and followed their instructions. I couldn't have ordered the parts any cheaper myself and probably saved money doing it. Nothing went wrong with the installation and 40,000 miles later it goes thru the quarter in 14.3 and gets about 10,000 miles a year put on it. I paid for that to happen.

im using a quicktime bellhousing on a 428 with a chevy 4 speed in a 41 willys my partner is building.so far so good.

Just curious as to what clutch style you guys with FE Quicktime bellhousings are using. All the FE bells I see in thew QT catalog say they are meant for diagphram clutches, which to me is ridiculous, as every factory FE car with a standard transmission left the factory with a Long style clutch, as does virtually every FE powered car that runs down the 1/4 mile quickly enough to be required to have a SFI scattershield to race legally. I have heard that some guys made a QT work with a Long by stacking up block plates, but that brings its own problems with it.

Was running a Quick time bell housing behind 66 sideoiler tunnel port connected to my Richmond  gear ST-10 4spd in my 40 Ford coupe,perfect fit and no complaints. Engine apart right now.Good product

   I just assumed the Quick time had the same hinge plate as the Lakewood. In fact you knock out the rivets in the old hinge plate on the stock bell housing, tap the holes in the Lakewood and bolt the new hinge plate in.  I didn't know the Quicktime was any different. I use a throwout bearing with my diaphragm clutch plate that looks just like a Long Style. But, the throw out bearing is from Mike Forte (it may be special made just like the needle pilot bearing he came up with. I've got almost 40K miles on that setup so you know it works. I probably don't need a scatter shield but after seeing a spectator go to the hospital during a burnout contest, I run a steel flywheel and scatter shield.

I haven't ever tried a Quicktime but was hoping to run one. I doub\t it\s a pivot location problem as they are the same depth. Sound more like it hits the deeper pressure plate and the QT is shaped more like a cone rather the bell shape of the Lakewood. Maybe it is only with 11 1/2" pressure plates?  Anyone know?

I don`t know about 11 1/2 " clutchs, but I think the main problem is the curved section of the Quicktime bell is too tight to accomodate the taller Long style clutch assembly. One of our local stick racers has a Quicktime on his 5.0 Mustang, but it won`t accept a 164 tooth flywheel, onlt the smaller 157 tooth setup. By comparision, my 331s McLeod scattershield  works with either flywheel, by removing a pre partially cut section of the block plate.

Here's a picture of the alternation I did to the Lakewood Bell housing to get my FPA headers to fit. It was miner and I was still able to use every bolt needed for the housing. Thanx for all the replies I will be using the stock clutch fork for my set up, I'm gonna use a center force clutch and aluminum fly wheel ,
