63-64 Galaxie rears

It would answer a few questions for me.

Redoing the rear end in my car and trying to figure everything out beforehand.  Anyone else with a 63-64 please feel free to chime in, it'll be very helpful.
I doubt I'd need as large a tire as you have, but since I'm doing everything, I might as well massage as much room possible while I have it all apart.

I had 275/60r 15 BFG on 8.5 American racing TT
and it touched on one side(outside) if i had people in the
rear seat
Now i have 255/75 or 70 i dont remember and they
clear with full load hard to get in and out of the Wheel
house though
So with a carefully centered rearend i Think 275 is possible
without cuting anything.

Limit travel, hold up the bar in the event of catastrophic failure,  sanctioning rules,  piece of mind Or ........?
BTW the small (economy) jack-stands (pictured under the rear) especially at max lift have "surprisingly" little stability. I found out the hard after tipping a car into a garage wall as it fell over - so I'm gun-shy whenever I see them . At least IF you use one a 3-5 Ton stand on the other side the axle (which you might already have there) it adds some stability to the small stand. Small footprint stands are a nightmare waiting to happen. I ended up welding large steel plates under my small footprint stands and pouncing on 3-5 ton stands that are majorly stable whenever I found them priced right

That is exactly why they are there.  NHRA has started enforcing their use on traction bars like Cal-Tracs, I'm told...

Those are actually 6 ton jackstands, BB, not the small ones.  They are plenty stable - Jay

How does the rear end hold up compared to 4-5leaf springs when towing your lil teardrop trailer or with any other load on in the back?

That is a good looking car.  I definitely need to get my '64 back on the road...

If I recall correctly Travis at Cal-Trac recommended that you replace the monoleaf springs every 3-4 years, so I would say they don't hold up as well long term.  They don't drag way down under the weight of my little trailer, though.

We have L-60 15 under our cars you could do this pretty ease we just ground off about a 1/4 inch on the inner edge and used 8 inch wheels with a 4 1/2 inch inside off set.

any one remember those?   on some 12 in wide slotmags
the widest tire you could buy in Sweden in the 70s
maby some longer shackles and air shocks and i can fit
them on my 64 Galaxie
