High Riser intake manifold question

Can someone educate me about the differences between the different OE High Riser intakes Ford made in the 60’s? 
I listed the ones I know of but I’m sure I’ve missed a few.

C4AE-9425-E   1x4
C4AE-9425-G  1x4
C4AE-9425-D   2x4 dual plane
C4AE-9425-F   2x4 dual plane

Was there a 2x4 tunnel wedge version?
ERA 427SC Cobra: Iron ‘67 625hp 482” SOHC, TKX 5 speed, TrueTrac 3.31 IRS, Magnesium Halibrands, Avon CR6ZZ tires. 

1969 Shelby GT350, 4 speed.

1967 Mustang Fastback: Close ratio T56 Magnum, Fab-9, Wilwood superlite brakes, Torque arm rear suspension, TCI-IFS with shock tower delete, (Coming soon, FE motor TBD)

1970 F250 4x4 Mud Truck, 557 BBF, as cast P51 heads, 900 hp @6700rpm, 801 tq, Q16, C6.

2012 Cobra Jet Mustang factory drag car, 5.4 liter 4.0 Whipple, 970 RWHP.

1964 Galaxie 500XL, 35 spline 3.70 Strange S-Trac, 6R80, (Coming soon: Pond Aluminum 525 SOHC, 800hp)

     Of O.E.M. Ford, I also have examples of the 1x4 without casting/engineering numbers (looks a lot like the "E") and Weber intakes.   

     Apparently DOVE made a few H.R. "Tunnel-Wedge style" intakes.    :)

The main difference between the E & F 2x4 intakes is the carb mounting surface. One is flat, the other is at an angle. Might be some more to it than that.

    I'm thinking you meant "D" & "F", if you were speaking of the 2 x 4 intakes.   :-\

    And if so, there's definitely more to it than that!  Find a picture of each and compare the runner execution.   ;)

I looked at a D today. I was told it has sufficient spacing to use carbs with metering blocks and it had an angled mount.

There is a XE 2x4 also. The D is sort of angled in the center like an X so is the XE. The High riser has its own carb spacing on the 2x4 stuff because the carbs from the factory used metering blocks front and back. Ive always heard the F intake is a good 25 plus HP over the D . Dove made the tunnel wedge for the high riser but it is usually only for the raised port heads.

There was an early style 4V HR intake without a part number that I have worked on.  It had terrible flow distribution between the runners. It is rare.  Here is a picture of it compared with the -E.  Joe-JDC

     Yes, the "E" 'was' better, but then the "G" example is better again and is definitely the one you want!   :)

F is better than the XE or the D as far as performance goes. Robert Pond is making new F intakes and F heads and can be purchased through Chris Whitney.

I have the one of the Dove Hi Rise tunnel wedge intakes. Not sure how many Jim Dove sold
