Wanted: Plain Jane rocker stands
« on: September 13, 2025, 07:05:42 AM »
Looking for a set of 8 rocker stands. Used is fine. I don't need fancy aftermarket unless they are cheap :-)

I picked up a set of OEM stands at a swap meet a few years ago and thought I'd use them on this stock 390 I'm putting together with parts I have lying around. I discovered that the bore is oval. .836 up and down and .845 across. I assume someone torqed them like lug nuts? So before you offer any, could you check the bore for roundness. If it helps, I have two NOS stands so if you have a broken set of 6 or 7, that will work too.

Thanks,

Hi Doug.  I think the OEM stands are always deformed after installation, as they clamp the shaft.  Look at the OEM 427 stands, that were beefier, but had a bend cut on one side to allow bending.  I think you'll be fine with the ones you have, though you might have to use a soft mallet to install them.

I would use them except the shaft will not go through. I tapped one on and it was way too tight.

I've got at least 6 extra rocker assemblies. I'll take a couple apart and check for roundness.
It will be a day or two. I think they would fit into a small flatrate box.

You could buy my complete setup with end stands as an option.

Thank you all for your responses. I purchased a new set just to be safe.

Thanks again!
