Cam shaft spec review

I am still waiting on my block back from the machine shop so thought I would have all the Fe gurus here review my cam specs. I Ordered a custom hyd roller from cam research since the are local to me and I like to keep local guys in business too...going in a 428 .040 over with a stroker kit from Brent lykins, trick flow heads, rpm manifold, hooker headers

Going to be driving a 67 Galaxie 3.89 rear, street cat, power brakes, converting it to a 5 speed tkx

pretty mild cam for those cubic inches , I would probably want more cam myself

is it hard for everyone to see that attachment, looks weird when I try to view it. I was kind of thinking it might be on the small sid

Lots to unpack, but bottom line, it's not right.

- Depends on static compression but too small advertised, intake side likely 20 degrees short for a 10:1 motor
- Not enough .050, also 15-18 degrees short
- Giving up lift for no reason with good heads
- Not enough split, needs more exhaust lobe proportionally, 10+ more exhaust than intake.
- LSA would need to change with lobe change to keep idle vacuum

I'd be something like 290-ish/235-237-ish, intake, 300 ish exhaust, 246-248 exhaust, over .600 lift, and LSA to keep vacuum where you want it.

Brent can get you there, or I can if he is busy, or if you want to buy from Cam Research, it needs to meet something closer to 290/235 298/245 114 LSA, .600+ lift, degree to match your static.  I do not have their lobe chices to dig deeper.  I use Comp, Bullet, and in very rare cases Oregon and choose the lobes I want

JMHO, but you have some fairly expensive go-fast parts  that would be wasted by a cam that would be nice for a street 390

Yea honestly I talked to him twice on the phone, about a couple different combos, but when I ordered thought I was clear about what I had, and unfortunately did not write down the specs he said at the time but I feel like he possibly ground me the smaller cam we talked about.....I will probably sell it and get another.

That cam will sound like a "stock engine" with 462+ cubes, and even with a good combustion chamber it might be fuel sensitive considering the low RPM torque peak (cylinder pressure) and the weight of the vehicle.
