SFI Flexplate
« on: June 18, 2024, 04:24:12 PM »
Any good recommendations?  I have a neutral balance PA SFI flexplate but the date is expired.  I tried calling Performance Automatic but they are moving and won't be up and running until August. (Not sure they will re-certify) Summit sells PRW but I really don't want to use any of their products.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Who's climbing under the car, removing the inspection cover plate, looking for the decal and checking the date?   ::)

No one yet but for a NHRA class car I would rather be legal. The rule was introduced to stock eliminator and there can be spot checks any time.

They dont have to go under the car. They will ask you for the paper work for a recert or a new purchase. They checked Ray Paquet at Indy last year for his certs.

I just received an ATI flex plate for our race car. It's very lightweight. It came as a package with their torque converter.

I saw that on their web site but it is listed for a C6 and E4OD doesn’t mention C4. Are the C6 and C4 torque converter bolts the same pattern?  (I haven’t really checked)

There are two (common) O.E.M. bolt pattern diameters for C4. only one for the C6; but there are also converter mounting offset distances, which if I recall correctly the C6 only shares with the E4OD?   :-\

If you get the ATI Flexplate make sure you get the spacer. I ordered a flexplate from Jegs and it didn’t come with spacer and starter was crashing into plate. Spent this weekend putting spacer in. Oh fun.

My bad I don’t know if I missed your post or skimmed by it. Yes it would have been great advice. Next time I will pay better attention. One good thing is that it used much less spacers for converter clearance.

I have the trans out and the ATI C4 converter has the 11 1/2” bolt pattern, so the ATI flexplate will work for my car as well. I’m going to see what the Reactor flexplate cost and how hard it is to get it recertified since they are not too far from me in SoCal.

I ordered a PRW SFI flexplate before I heard about their quality issues and have it on my 464 589 hp engine and have not had any issues . I installed it with a power master starter and it works perfectly  . I have thrashed on it with drag radials and so far no issues
