428CJ exhaust manifolds in 67-72 F250?
« on: November 07, 2022, 03:53:35 PM »
As I slowly return to utilizing my '67 F250 2wd as my towing truck I am looking at pulling the 390 and putting the 428CJ motor in it that I have had forever. While considering this I thought it might be cool to make it look like someone had swapped a CJ motor in it back in the day, manifolds and all. So I was wondering if anyone has tried to use those exhaust manifolds in their F100/250 and how they fit.

Barry Gaugler (sp?)  used to have a manifold interchange on his Spookytruck.net website, but I don't see it there now.  Maybe drop an email to him to see whether he still has it in his files.

Thank you sir! Were there footnotes that went with this chart? I saw some of the "yeses" had numbers beside them.

I have to admit that the 427 long tubes will fit into the 56 F100, I own one with them. You have to remove the original rear crossmember that the rear bellhousing sat on and refab a lower crossmember. I also fabbed some side mount engine mounts and a tranny mount crossmember.

Which long tubes did you use - the '62-'64, or '65-'66?

I tried to dry fit my long tubes on my 69 f100 and knew that lower crossmember would have to be cut apart to clear things.  Even std headers are a close fit and I always cut the flanges off and use slip joints and band clamps.

slip joints and band clamps? -- I gave up on band clamps - they always failed to hold their clamp for me - I have gone to ball-socket flange and V-band types:
