FE Technical Forum / Re: Dove Rollers
« on: August 04, 2013, 10:44:25 AM »
You are about a 100lbs over the recommened pressure for those rockers.
no wonder they gave up.
Not Dove's fault this time.
I believe they list the standards for up to 400lbs open.
anything more than that and you need the wide ones.

Nothing wrong with those rockers but if you have a tight budget
there is a complete set of NOS Ford rockers on the Fe forum for $ 300
which look good.
They are not mine.
take a look.

FE Technical Forum / Re: Axle question
« on: June 05, 2012, 09:12:27 AM »
I did mock this thing up and there is not even room to get your fingers in there to put
the nuts on the axle retainer studs.  I would have thought there would have been enough clearance.
A universal socket won't fit either.
I'm just going to have the flange drilled and forget it.
Appreciate the input

FE Technical Forum / Axle question
« on: June 05, 2012, 06:38:24 AM »
Just finishing up painting my 66 Fairlane underneath and doing  some other upgrades.
Down to installing Wilwood rear disc brakes when I noticed on Moser axles there is no hole drilled in them to access the bearing retainer
nuts.  This is ok with rear drums as you can dismantle them to get to the nuts but with the Wilwood disc with a parking brake there is no
way to get a wrench in there. If I take the Wilwood parking brake set up apart to get to the nuts there is not enough room behind the axle flange to put them back together.  anyone else run into this issue?
What I'm thinking of doing is have my machinist drill me a hole between the studs large enough to insert a 9/16 socket.  Anyone see a problem
with doing this.  Seems like an easy cure.
Appreciate any input

This A1 Cardone stuff is  pure junk!  I bought one of their pumps years ago for my 78 F 150 from Advance because
of the warranty.   It never worked.  after taking it back 3 times and replacing it.  I finally went to
NAPA and got a pump. This was before NAPA got cheap and started using A1 Cardone stuff. Put it on, put fluid in it, and in 10 minutes it was like new.  Same pump was
on it for years till I changed to a hydroboost set up.
Their brake stuff is unfortunately no better but I think they are about the only outfit that remanufactures this stuff now.
I would do what Ken said and go to a rack and pinion if you can afford it.
