FE Technical Forum / Power glide/ trans brake help!
« on: July 22, 2022, 11:56:11 AM »
I was going to take my new (to me) ‘64 Galaxie to the drag strip tomorrow, so I got it out and did a short pass in my drive way. Put the shifter in reverse, hit the trans brake to activate reverse, backed up a long ways then did another short run now no reverse! I can hear the t/brake click and the light on the delay box comes on but won’t back up. Also now it won’t hold in first gear either. I know very little about auto drag cars, so any help or advise would be appreciated!
Car has an Art Carr power glide with trans brake, 5500 stall converter, Msd 2 stage and delay box
Thanks Randy

FE Technical Forum / Opentracker products for Fairlane?
« on: July 14, 2021, 01:15:27 PM »
Hi. I’d love to get some advice from y’all about front suspension parts For a ‘66 Fairlane I’m doing some modifications to, I guess I ought to list some of them a  sad it might make a difference on part selection.
465 SO Tunnelport ( at Lykins Motorsport waiting on pistons)
toploader
9” etc
I have new Caltracs, bars, mono and rear shocks just mounted.
I will drive the car occasionally on the street, I’m mainly interested in high speed stability, safety and weight transfer.
Opentracker products recommended to me are…
Roller spring perch’s, upper and lower control arms, steering kit with roller idle arm, double adjustable shocks and 6 cly. springs. I think that’s all on the list. I’m sure some of you have or are using their parts, how do you like it and would you do anything different?
Thanks in advance for any information!
Randy

FE Technical Forum / Tunnel port advice
« on: October 02, 2020, 01:12:09 PM »
Hi, everyone. My name is Randy I’m new here, but have been reading your forum for a couple years. I just bought a 427so with tunnel port heads and 2x4 single plane manifold. It was a running engine until pulled and then sit for many years, I pulled it apart and here’s what I found...
Block J23 standard bore, .005 taper on 2 front bores, the rest were under .003
Crank C5ae 630 0 0 the bearings all looked good.
Rods C6AE-E polished std. bearings look good.
Pistons C8AX 6110A skirts show minor wear.
Heads C70E 609K look stock with a full “thumbprint “ no port work.
Intake C70E 94425A has a crappie weld on a bolt boss, otherwise looks stock.
I’m happy so far, but what do I do next?
I’ve been talking to Brent about options.
1. Build it back stock with new bearings, rings, cam, valve train etc.
2. Build a 482 with modern parts, hyd roller etc. shoot for 600ish HP.
3. Add ported tunnel port heads and manifold (around 650 to 700hp).
4. Sell it to someone who needs a vintage engine and start over?
