FE Technical Forum / Re: 67 Custom R code

If that isn't enough a couple days later i get a call from a guy looking for a power steering bracket for a 428 Cj in a 68 Cougar. I asked if it's the blue one i'd read about. It is. What an amazing story on that car.

I wonder if there was any measurable performance difference between the 427 and 428 version considering they shared the same intake and exhaust systems.

Some counterfeit things are so close I think they are built by the same companies in China but after hours or a slightly different assembly line. Some copy paint guns are indistinguishable for 1/10th the price.

Well, I'm attempting to do both a stroker kit and the heads. Have some parts as well as a 2006 Harley Sportster 1200C up for sale to help fund this madness. lol.

Thank you everyone for your input and words of advise.

I'll more than likely use this thread to document the coming together of this engine.

Would have been cool to see a 2x4 medium riser on both and the rpm on the other.

I had a 427 bored I think 047 over that had a .070 thick spot that ran for 20 years no problem. This could be a standard bore 427 with 110 thick walks? How thick are 447 walls usually? I thought .100 was safe for street use. I understand more is better.

FE Technical Forum / 428 c1 heads
« on: May 17, 2019, 09:46:42 PM »
I have 2 sets of c1 heads for my 428. one pair is cut .050 and one is .010. the valves on the cut pair are in the seats by .050 more too- will that be a preference disadvantage? which would you choose?  thanks
does multiple valve jobs where the valve is recessed hurt hp- if the valve is recessed .050 from valve jobs that obviously isn't equal to .050 less camshaft lift- correct?

FE Technical Forum / Re: pump gas compression
« on: February 06, 2019, 01:53:30 PM »
the heads that came off were 73 cc and I thought deck was .016 which gave me 8.8ish compression. I'm thinking I need more than that- my new heads are now 70cc ind I think I'm shooting for 9.5-9.6 to one. my cracrancranking compression is155-160.
should I cut the heads to 66cc? any thoughts? Thankyou!

FE Technical Forum / pump gas compression
« on: February 03, 2019, 09:20:16 PM »
I have a .020 over 428 with what is apparently 28cc dished kb pistons and 70cc iron heads already cut .010. What can I do to get the compression correct for 91 pump gas.  It also has a cj cam. Thanks
