FE Technical Forum / Re: Cam pin
« on: May 01, 2023, 01:08:15 PM »
Jay, which dowel pin material were you buying from McMaster? I'm looking at the 4140 16,000 lb breaking strength. Or there is M2 tool steel. Not sure which would be better. I'd hate to pick the wrong material and shear a pin.

I’m looking for a source for a 1.5”x .312” cam pin. Or .312” cam pin stock that I can cut to length.

Thanks,
Fred

Call Andre at Edge racing converters. I’ve always had good luck with them.

DEPSTECH Wireless Endoscope, IP67 Waterproof WiFi Borescope

$40 through Amazon. That’s what I have and it works surprisingly well. It syncs to your phone so your phone is the screen. The picture is very clear and has a brightness adjustment on the camera.

Non-FE Discussion Forum / 1965 to 66 Galaxie parts interchange
« on: September 09, 2020, 12:18:57 PM »
What is interchangeable between '65 to '66? I'm fairly positive the frames are the same. What about windshield?   Bumpers? Front sheet metal? Deck lid? etc..  I have a '66 custom with a bad frame and found a '65 hardtop for sale with a decent frame. Obviously the hard top is more desirable. Just curious what parts I could steal from one for the other. I appreciate any help.

I'll go with 495 HP and 445 torque. I'll be curious to see what the curve looks like on this one.. Also interested in seeing how the 3 barrel compares. Awesome build, Brent.

FE Technical Forum / Re: TFS vs Edelbrock

How much room for improvement is there with the TFS heads? Has anyone developed a CNC program for them yet? I've been running a set of Survival CNC edelbrocks on my 450" with pretty good luck. But I do like the thought of a smaller more modern chamber on the TFS.

I like the  Cometic C5137-060 with my CNC ported Edelbrocks. They're easy to trim with a sharp blade.

Do those have a lot of material on the outside of the ports?  I trim my Mr.Gasket 202A's, but there isn't a whole lot left afterwards.

thanks,

pl

They have more material than the 202A's and trim easier. I used to run the 202A's and after I tore one trying to trim it I switched to the Cometics.

Thanks, Brent. That will be an interesting test to run on the dyno.

Brent, is there any solid data out there showing the gains from stand pipes in the valley and re directing the oil draining back to the pan? One would think those numbers would vary less from dyno to in chassis. If its just a matter of tapping 6 holes (leaving the back 2 open) and threading in brass stand pipes, why don't you see more guys doing that in attempts to keep oil off the crank?

Fred

I have never done a back-to-back on it, so I personally don't have data on it.  I could try that with my 352 dyno mule, as it's already been drilled/tapped for it.

I don't think a lot of guys do it because they don't know about it.  It's done by a lot of engine builders on higher end applications.

Off the Top of your head do you happen to know what tap size that is?

I just finished up my '86 F-150 with a 406 in it. I ran FPA Tri-Y headers, 3" exhaust, x-pipe(jeg's kit), thrush glass packs and tail pipes. I really like the sounds of the glass packs with an x-pipe.

Larry, what rear suspension are you running? Any plans for a diet? I remember the first time I saw your car run was at the 2004 reunion at Columbus, OH. It always puts on a good show.
