Best intake gaskets?
« on: August 19, 2020, 08:49:14 AM »
I know jay addresses this in his book, but I can’t seem to find it  :-\

I’m putting a performer rpm on the old truck soon, wondering what the Best intake gasket would be?

Bone stock, iron heads.

Thanks

I like the  Cometic C5137-060 with my CNC ported Edelbrocks. They're easy to trim with a sharp blade.

I’m guessing standard MR heads, I’ll see if I can get the part number off the heads when I get home.

I’m mainly concerned about leaks, not so much with a perfect port match.

It’s a bone stock 360 in a 71 F250, not exactly a performance engine by any stretch. I will be pulling the stock 2bbl manifold off and installing a performer RPM that has been modified to port fuel injection.

I will run a carb on it to start with, then get the injectors firing once I get the fuel system figured out.
This is just to get the kinks out of the FI system, so that later, when I put a real motor in the truck, I will be starting with something that already works.

Do those have a lot of material on the outside of the ports?  I trim my Mr.Gasket 202A's, but there isn't a whole lot left afterwards.

thanks,

Those are just fine for standard passenger car ports, which are the ports your truck 360 has.  You don't have medium riser ports.

They have more material than the 202A's and trim easier. I used to run the 202A's and after I tore one trying to trim it I switched to the Cometics.
