Mustang and Torino shock tower questions
« on: April 16, 2021, 09:09:08 AM »
Will 67-8 Mustang shock tower assemblies fit in a '69 Torino? A friend of mine has a '69 R code Cobra he rescued from a salvage yard many years ago. The shell is pretty straight but all the suspension and drivetrain is long gone along with various sheetmetal and interior pieces. When the suspension was removed they just used a torch to cut everything out. I have a pair of aftermarket replacement shock tower assemblies(and upper/lower a-arms)  for a 67-8 Mustang and was wondering if they are the same or similar. When I started on my '65 Mustang BBF project I was going to convert it to the later shock towers and suspension but decided to go with the MII suspension so I have this stuff taking up space.

Even if they are not the same yours could probably be made to work.  But your buddy has a pretty special car and if he has any ideas of returning it to it’s former glory he should find the correct pieces.

The Mustang and Torino shock towers are actually quite a bit different.  Just comparing my Torino to the Mustangs, it looks like it is even more restrictive to the rest of the engine bay than the Mustangs are.  If it's a Cobra, I agree that your friend should try to find the right pieces, they shouldn't be all that difficult to come by...

I agree that your buddy has a special car. There is a good resource for info at torinocobra.com.
