LR Valve postition Spec
« on: April 02, 2021, 07:18:08 PM »
I'm building a fixture, for my Edsel heads and I would like to get the factory distance, from the first, to last Ex valve on LR heads.

I have the Ford drawing for the C5AE-G, large valve head, that distance is 16.290 but, no drawings of any other heads.

They had to put liners in my Ex guilds, to machine them for Stellite seats and I measured the distance, in my heads @ 16.216, with my height gauge. Does anyone have the factory Ford dimension so, I can know if the distance is still the same, after the guilds were installed?

This is the C5AE-G head. I would assume the valve spacing is the same as the TP, MR & HR, which is 2.100 as opposed to my LR heads, that are 1.980.

C5AE-6049-G must be part number or drawing number.

You can see at the bottom of the drawing, it the drawing #and/or the part # but, regardless, it should be the valve spacing for the 2.19 x 1.75 valves.

The LR heads, have a valve spacing of 1.980 so, I don't know if they left the Ex valve, in the same place, as the LR and just moved the In valve over, for clearance or, that they moved both.

I thought that someone on here would have the answer. I was hoping that maybe Jay, would have some input, since he does heads. I have a lot of Ford drawings, for the FE and most of the dimensions are 2 digit so, I'm suspicious of my measurement. It's actually 17.2155 but, by there other dimensioning, I would have expected it to be, either .210 or .220
