« on: March 27, 2021, 01:59:02 PM »
i have a situation. im putting a 4 speed back in my 66 comet.i ordered a new shifter, flywheel, clutch kit,all new bolts and a anti rattle spring for my bell.all my parts came in last week except the spring.my neighbor was going to help me drop the motor-trans back in my comet.but he is moving across state next week.are there anything else i can do to replace the spring so he can help me tonight and tomorrow or do i need to wait on the spring and worry my wife to death while im in the garage alone.

can you run a wire through the holes and under the clip, can you put the clutch arm in place and run it without the rattle spring?

running out of time.i might as well forget about my neighbor helping me.i guess i will just wait on the spring to come and take my time and do it myself.i used to enjoy stuff like this but i cant lift myself off the floor onto my feet without something to hold to to pull myself up.its hell getting old and broke down if you try to do the things you did 30-40 years ago. no replies anyway. i told the local ford dealer everything with a manual trans before 68 had one,he said if is older than 1990 they wont have it. all the chain auto parts store's dont have them either.

Yes you can just make one from a piece of wire. It will make it tough to get on there but not much worse than the spring wire.
