Dug out a long lost project....

That I need to get back on track.  It's a '68 Falcon with a 10 point cage, 2"x3" tube back half tubbed for 12" tire.  Ladder bars and coil overs.  Wanting to get chassis certified for 8.50's. Looking to run an aluminum stroker FE and a manual tranny (Liberty, Gforce, Jerico or ?) and a soft loc clutch.  Still a lot of research to do yet.  Was also having delusions of twin turbos but everything I read says not way to go for a bracket car.  Looking to run in the UMTR.

 At the time all that was done I didn't have enough money to do anything to the front end other than run stock suspension.  Now I would like a bit more room to work and header clearance.  I am looking at either going with a M2 front end kit or maybe going to a tube nose and struts.  I am leaning towards the M2 kit as I can do that in house easier.  Would like to hear pros and cons of both.  If I go M2 kit was thinking it would probably be best to go with coil overs?

The Art Morrison M2 based front clip that I put under my Galaxie really worked out well.  It uses coilovers.  The only thing I didn't like about it when I got it was the front suspension travel, which was pretty limited because of the coilover shocks they recommended.  I ended up going with different coilovers with more travel, 5.5" I think, which translated to about 8" of wheel travel up and down.  I had to change the upper shock mount on the front clip to make this work, but that was not a big fabrication job.  If I had it to do over, I'd do exactly the same thing again.  The Galaxie rides beautifully on the street, and the front suspension works well at the track.

I was concerned with the travel of the M2 as well, hadn't had a chance to call anyone yet to ask about longer travel coil overs.  Good to know that's an option.  I would think  5.5" travel would work well enough.  More research on my behalf.

Trying to get ahold of the guy that originally did cage work to see if he wants to come out of retirement to make some updates.  He doesn't have a shop anymore but I have room for him to do if he wants.  Last I talked to his cousin he still had all of his tools except a welder, I have that covered too.  If not will look else where. I can do most of it, just can't find the time right now and want to see the car start to come together soon.
