Anybody have an old TRW piston catalog (80's) 289 piston
« on: February 07, 2021, 07:28:13 PM »
Greetings Gents.  I'm trying to get some TRW piston specs for an L2218 F piston for a 289.  I know its a flat top forged piston with four valves reliefs.  I was able to use a camera through the spark plug hole to get the part number.  What I'm trying to figure out is the cc's of the valve reliefs to accurately calculate compression.  My guesstimate if more than 5cc and less than 10cc.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In my '78 TRW catalog, it only states that the L2218, is 10.5 CR, with a 1.603 CH.

Comparing the valve reliefs in your picture, with pictures of the L2482, it looks the same and the 2482 has valve reliefs of 2.7cc.

Sorry, that's all the help I can give.
Frank

AWESOME!  Thanks for info.  Has a lot more compression than I thought.

If I get a chance tonight, I'll see if my 79 main line catalog or the old Performance Parts catalog has any more info.

I have the total volume of all four at -4.7.

Thank you!  Going to have Brent spec me out a retro hydraulic roller cam.  A point of compression between 9.5 and 10.5 will make huge difference on cam specs if I want to California pump gas.

Thank again

Concur with frnkeore - no other info in the catalog.  Not listed in the 77 Performance Parts book or in the F-M book.  Only the L2249NF popups.  Which I still have a full set of L2249NF-30s, new never run.  Someday... ;)
