Intake gasket thickness
« on: June 01, 2011, 10:36:56 PM »
What is the common thickness of intake gaskets?

I'm getting some intake gaskets custom made for my race engine, and am far from having the heads or intake dummied, so I don't know the exact thickness of the gaskets I will require. If I was to get some made in common sizes, what sizes should I go for?

Typical thickness is 1/16" (.062").  You can get them in different thicknesses from Cometic, but all of the Mr. Gasket composition gaskets are 1/16", and if you include the raised beads on most other intake gaskets, they also come in right about that thickness.
