Mounting transmission cooler lines to FE skirt.
« on: January 20, 2021, 04:25:33 PM »
I am working on a set of transmission cooling lines. These are 8AN SS braided (non-coated) and I'd like to use these two holes on the side of the FE skirt along with this type of loop. Anyone know of a better bracket option?

Kinda looks like the bracket to hold the power steering hoses on a Mustang. Should work, although you may need to enlarge the mounting hole for the block.

Don't the slushbox cooler lines already bolt to those holes? I have taken apart many that have. I have several of the big stubby bolts that hold them and probably the brackets that look like flatter versions of the pictured one.

Very close. It's described as a heater hose clamp for Chevy.

Hmmm, I was wondering about that as the old metal lines were routed through that area. No bracket for reference though. It's probably a 3/8 bolt so plenty strong.

That's where all of them were attached from the factory with that kind of bracket from the factory.

Maybe throw a heli coil in the block holes then you can utilize a smaller fastener. Make finding a clamp a lot easier.

+1 I was thinking those were 7/16" holes but could be wrong.

Yup. They are even bigger than I thought. I picked up the 7/16” hardware today. Although the helicoil idea is interesting.
