Wanted.. 1970 Mustang Fastback
« on: October 17, 2020, 09:28:15 PM »
A friend intends to build a 70 Boss 429 Super Stock car and is looking for a nice starting spot so no rusty projects please. It will be getting a back half and 4 link so he won't be cutting up anything rare. Let me know if you have or know of something. Thanks

Yup... he's been talking about this for years and so far has a pair of NOS B-429 fender decals. He sold his Comp car complete and wants something different to play with.

If this was a "good" idea someone would have done it by now. Engine can make power but has to run the small factory carb and that's going to be hard to overcome. But... you know Howie !! He's also thinking about a complete Dynacorn body which would mean buying everything else separate. Got a price on that bumper? I'll see if he's interested yet.

i think you are right about the carb.however, there was a 428 super stock mustang that went 9.50s with the factory style carb.it might do better in stock class.many years ago dick serdinak ran nhra stock with his full weight boss 429 car,and went 10.70s with it.not a max effort like todays cars for sure.but then again, how much cfm can an engine really need for that? 1250 dominator on kaase intake would be killer!
i also have a boss 429 block i just posted here for sale if hes intrested.

If this project comes to pass it will be a max effort. I don't even know what SS class it fits in but will ask. He has a line on an aftermarket block and also has talked to Kasse about heads and getting them approved. He's used to going 7.30's in his Comp car so think he's looking for something that will run in the 8's. Not happening with a Stock Eliminator car and SS has a lot more leeway on parts other than the Carb. Maybe Carrol S can send a memo to NHRA that Ford made a factory 2x4 that will help his cause :)

Fits D, E & F stick only. Has to weigh about 425lbs more than the same class 68 Cobra Jet.

We're in Vancouver BC so that's just a little South. A bit more hacked up than he wants but one has to start somewhere so I'll pass the info along. Thanks..
