1/8 Scale FE

The process this guy uses to make the parts for this model is called 3D printing, and it is about the hottest thing in prototyping right now.  In fact the guy who did the CAD model of my intake adapter wanted me to do a 3D print of it, so that we could check it completely for fit before I invested in the tooling.  Great idea, but expensive, around $3K for the intake adapter, so I decided to machine some of the parts from billet to check the fit instead.

In any case, the detail possible with this process is unbelievable.  I hope he starts mass producing these things, like those SOHC engines.  I need a couple of them for my desk at work

I need one for my Power King lawn mower, I wonder if there are plans for a 14 HP version with a roots on top LOL.

The other one has a blower, looks like an old top fuel motor.

I need a functional one LOL maybe one that runs on the old Cox airplane fuel. That would be awesome. Still a great pencil holder. Or you could use it to build a custom funny car model or something. They have componets its to build your own model car.

Just out of interest what is the difference from a CJ and wedge?

Btw, Revell has been selling scale SOHC's and FE's  for some time now. Have carb'ed SOHC and it's darned cool.

Pretty cool, remember the visible v8 engine kit? I had one when I was a kid.

I want a full size, die-cast cammer. So I can build a bbq out of it. I would be the only kid on the block with one of those. I'm sick and tired of seeing the sbc one!

I made one out of a ford 8N tractor hood once and took it to a tractor show for tailgating. But it did not come home someone made me an offer I could not refuse.

Just out of interest what is the difference from a CJ and wedge?

CJs are wedge engines, as are all the rest of the FEs, except for the cammer.  Wedge refers to the combustion chamber; the cammer is a hemi.

I thought all would be a wedge as none have an open chamber.

I have four different 427 scale engines, Liberty Classics and Revell seem to be the same ones.

There is a carb'd SOHC, blown SOHC, a 427 8-V Medium Riser with oval air cleaner and Galaxie exhaust manifolds and another 427 8-V Cobra engine with black Cobra valve covers, small chrome air cleaners and headers.

 I think those are the only FE's they make, there are Mopar Hemis and various Chevys.

It'd be cool to have a running mini version.

Tom, I`ve got the  same ones. I took the galaxie one out of the box last summer and took it with me to a car show, put it on top of the 427 med riser in my 56 pickup. Should have seen the reactions and looks! They make neat convresaion (SP) pieces.
