RMRW 2.0 day 1 XX Day 2
« on: September 13, 2020, 08:16:51 PM »
It was a good day 1 at RMRW 2.0. I had a few hiccups but all in all a good day. I had a little SNAFU in the tech line, I found that my shut off switch would not kill my car!...great. As a retired electrician I thought if I can't get this fixed I better just hang it all up right now. I got it sorted it quickly then I was good to go. It is such a big advantage when you do all your own work, you know just where to look.
As near as I can tell I am the lone representative of Big Block Fords of any type there. Sooooo many LS powered cars.  ::)
I ended up running an 11.36@121mph. That is the quickest and fastest I have ran so I was pretty happy. My 60ft time was slow I thought, a 1.76 so I need to work on that.  Not many pics. I just don't want to waste my storage space on LS stuff.

Rocky Mountain Race Week track time is being live streamed this week on Bangshift.Com. Should be able to find it by going to the Bangshift website and clicking on the RMRW 2.0 post. The track went live tonight in Tulsa. RMRW is a little different than Drag Week in that they usually run track time in the afternoon & evening.

Edit to add - they announced scheduled track time is 4pm-10pm Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday. 3pm-9pm Thursday.

Good luck Alan.

Here is a link to the live feed. At about the 3.39.00 mark it shows my pass. You can see my car doesn't react real well when I take off

So if they run track time at night, when are you supposed to drive to the next track? Through the middle of the night, and into the morning? No thanks...

I’ve been following the last few RMRW’s, it seems pretty split, some start on the way that evening, maybe going part way, many stay the night and drive the next day. On the past RMRW’s they have had the whole next day to drive if the distance has been longer, giving them a whole “drive day” so they have some time to sight see along the route if they want. The drives between tracks for this edition of RMRW 2.0 are fairly short, so they didn’t include a “drive day”. I think it’s cool they tweaked the event and didn’t just try to make it a Drag Week copy.

Since all the races are in the afternoon/evening I am choosing to go to my motel after I race and then leave out the next morning for the next track. That gives me pretty much all day to get there. The only drawback is if you get to the track too early there will be a lot of waiting time until the races start. This time of year in Kansas can be a little hazardous to drive at night since we have a pretty large deer population in the eastern half of the state.

Day 2: We went 211 miles today and the car ran great all the way. With that 3.80 gear and the Gear Vendor the engine was taching about 2500 rpm at 65 mph, just pretty nice. The car slowed way down at the track though. I ran an 11.81@114 mph. A friend who watched my pass said I spun really bad. He said they stopped me right the water in the burn out box and I probably didn't get all the water off my tires. Maybe...maybe not. The car still has good oil pressure and has puked its guts out so I am good. I did pick up a nice souvenir today on the road. I'll just post a pic and leave it at that.

Glad to hear the car is doing well. If you can go trouble free, I consider that a win.
That sucks about the windshield. The vacuum repair process works really good, but that one is bad, and it's in the line of sight, so no-go. I think I'd rather replace a windshield though, than have to repaint an entire hood. And glad it didn't punch a hole in the radiator.
Good luck, Alan!

Thanks Doug! I'm just glad it was in this car not the Galaxie. It is an ordeal t replace the windshield in it.
