BBM Lifter Bore Question
« on: August 04, 2020, 11:42:21 PM »
I just measured the lifter bore on my BBM block and I'm coming up with .875 but all the roller lifters like the Morel 5454 have a diameter of .875. I've read clearance should be aprox .0015 so my overall lifter bore should be .8765 correct? Maybe I'm measuring wrong but I tried over and over only to come up with the same measurement. I've looked at Crane roller lifters and they are also .875. Anyone have a suggestion? What am I missing?

The clearance will be in the lifters.

A lifter will not measure .875”, it will be smaller than that.  When it’s listed as a .875” lifter, that’s not actual diameter, but what bore size the lifter is for.

As far as getting actual clearance, you will need a mic and a bore mic to accurately measure it.
