Charlie Daniels died today....
« on: July 06, 2020, 12:29:54 PM »
Sad to see this American legend and iconic figure pass away. He was 83, and one of the few musicians who regularly wrote songs about America, and its greatness, and beauty.

Yes and he was a really great entertainer. I got to see him perform here, in the '90's.

I appreciated his love of God and Country and his stand-up attitude.  Despite it not being my genre of music I appreciate him as an American first and foremost.  May God rest his soul.

My sentiments exactly. I'm not a huge country music fan, at least by todays music (I liked it up till the '80s, when it started to go 'modern'), but I loved his songs, attitude and love for our country.

His song "In America" was a big deal when he wrote it. It really helped bring America together at that time. That song still has a lot of meaning to me. I was only 13 when he wrote it, but it made a big impression on me.

His songs "Simple Man" and "(What this world needs is) A Few More Rednecks" could have been written last week instead of 30 yrs ago. Their insights are timeless in light of today's current conditions.
