Air cleaner top
« on: June 30, 2020, 04:41:44 PM »
Bought this air cleaner off CL.
The top is a mismatch to the bottom. It’s a smaller 17 1/4 inch size. I need the larger 17 3/4 inch size.
The bottom is perfect for my wagon.
Anybody got the 17 3/4 top hanging around? Happy to swap or pay or pay and swap. Whatever.

I think what you're looking for isn't going to be simple. The bottom looks like a Boss 302 deal. I don't have one here at my house, otherwise I'd go measure, but what I believe you're looking for would come from a Boss 302, a '67 S-code Mustang, or a 428 Cobra Jet scoop delete car. I could be mistaken, but I believe the 17-3/4 diameter you're looking for, those were the applications.

Here's a chrome Scott Drake repop:

Here's some pictures I found on the web.

The Scott Drake piece may work for what you are needing? Only reason I have knowledge of this is our '67 S-Code. My grandpa ditched the factory air cleaner the 2nd day he owned the car. Searched for a long time to find the replacement. The repop piece from Scott Drake doesn't have the proper profiles in it, BUT, for your situation it would probably work just fine. Still isn't cheap though. I think we paid $500 or more for the correct chrome one for the Mustang. Boss 302 guys are all over those things.

Marc I think I have one for a Q code that was stripped down to bare metal so you could clean up and paint or chrome if preferred. I think I've got like $90 in it if you're interested I'll measure it this evening.
