EDIT: selling the T10 after testin..Gonna rebuild my Fairlane T 10 . suggestions

Gonna put the T10 in my 65 F100/352 and drive a few hundred miles to make sure it is sound

Then I will sell it, I test drive most things unless I sell as a core




Have a new 3/4  hub/slider/keys/springs.......  1/2 hub and slider are snug, no slack

Thought I would try a torque lock 1/2 slider with new keys and springs along with all new bearings and such

The synchro teeth on the gears look nice

Any shift a T10 with torque lock sliders ??

Wondering if there are any cons to using a torque lock slider

No cons to using quality torque locks & springs & keys.
Some supplied springs are way to stiff & incorrect diameter.
Round wire springs are used on hollow sheet metal keys only (OEM T10).
Square wire springs used on solid keys.

    Torque lock sliders eliminate "popping" out of gear. They should be used in pairs.

and, T-10s love to pop out of gear. I never had one that didn't. Some 2nd, some 3rd, some both. Once you go to a top-loader there is no going back.

My old T10 that was in the Galaxie when I got it would pop out of 2nd at the most inopertune times and I finally got a toploader to replace it. Like said above I never looked back. Best money I spent on the ole gal.

When my then-new '64 Custom/427 was a couple of months old, I took off from a light at about 1-3rd throttle, granny-shifted into 2nd and discovered that there was no connection between the engine and the rear-end. When I got the trans---a T-10---out, I discovered the output shaft had twisted off. I was working at T&C Livonia and knew the Executive Engineer, Bruno Zava. I asked him nicely, and he had a big in-'n'-out Toploader delivered to the local dealer for me. (Toploaders were not yet in the parts chain.) I had to get a new clutch disc and driveshaft yoke to make it all fit, but that cured the trans troubles, likely forever. And the Hurst shifter I'd installed practically right away after taking delivery of the car had to have some change parts as well.

The T-10 simply isn't strong enough to take the torque a performance FE will put out.

What year is your fairlane?

I may have a small input 28 spline Toploader that can fit your chassis

This way you can shelf the t-10 and run the Toploader whip on it when you want and never worry about breaking it unless of course you over power it but for regular driving they are really strong units
