Block choices
« on: June 16, 2020, 05:58:04 AM »
Hey all

When it comes to blocks I have a few questions

What are NOS side Oiler blocks going for?

What is the opinion on the bear block motors iron block?

It’s almost seems that for similar coin one could get the aftermarket block

I’m just curious as I’m always planning for future projects

Thanks in advance
Dave

Haven’t really seen an NOS SO on the market, but $5k wouldn’t surprise me at all.

Is the BBM a better block than factory iron?

The bear block is 3900 plus freight

Again just curious

Absolutely!  No doubt about it.  BBM block is one of the best blocks out there for FE's.

Ok perfect!

I have been talking with Doug at BBM

he has a small run coming in and another run planned for October-November

I am thinking buying and shelving while I gather more parts but if they are always available I can sit tight unless of course the costs will skyrocket

In all reality that 3900 is really a “good” deal for what it is then!

Thanks again guys

What Brent said and worth the money IMO. If you can get one I'd suggest you take it and store until needed. Waiting for another batch sometime in the future always has the possibility of not materializing, being very late or sold out just as you want to start assembly. Price increase is also a very real possibility. You won't have a problem selling a new in the box block if something changes down the road.
