Your Brand Choice Of Hyd Roller Lifters ?

There's several quality manufacturers of hydraulic roller lifters today.

Are their any specific types/brands that work better on FE heads ?

What is the brand that you prefer, and why ?

Morel, because the FE specialist builders on this site say they’re good

I've had very few issues with Morels and mostly use only those anymore. Morel does private label for a lot of places so I've been known to find a house branded set on sale from time to time.....

I have Howards in the 351C door car.  They are stated as good to 6500 RPM and from racing the car, that's pretty much spot on when running the recommended spring with their roller cam.  I set the air shifter at 6300 because it will sometimes break up hitting 6500 or 6600.  Going on 3 years, no other issues.

Some of them are. The FE hyd rollers Howards sells even uses the same part number as the Morel branded ones, I have bought several sets over the last couple years when they've been on sale. Visually identical to the Morel branded ones, same part number, only difference I could find is the last set I bought had Howards etched in the tie bar! I don't know about the Clevland Howard's but they could be. Brent may know as he uses a lot of Morels.

Does Rhoads offer a hyd roller now?

I haven't used a set in a long time, they worked as advertised back in the day but they were all flats that I used from them. I don't see a lot of need anymore on most of the stuff I work on - technology has progress in cams.

Wow, that's a long time ago. When I built my first car, a Pro-Street Camaro, Rhoads, Comp, Crane, and many more.

What do you think between lifters with the needles vs the bearings ?
Looking at solid rollers.

Think so.  The solid Howard rollers with pressure oiling are going on 4 years in use without any issues.

Howard hyd. roller are indeed made by Morel.

If you plan on solid roller, the Crower HIPPO lifters are a good option. I think the bushed are more for a max effort build.

You could add Johnson to your list of names....

That’s interesting that you said bushed are more for max effort builds Jared.
I’ve always thought of bushed as just more duty cycle trouble free than needles. Of course that works for max effort but now I’m thinking about needles and max effort because with most max effort deals you have less run time which would help needles live. Of course it’s a tougher environment for 8/9/10 seconds.

I'm sold on the roller bearing over the needles. So how does the ''pressurized oiling'' work, and for the FE engine ?
